Tso Tseng Trail

Tso Tseng Trail, a scenic trail that is no further than 4km away from Errantry Lodge, is located to the at the foot of the mountain on the east side of Mt. Sabado, belong to Chilai mountain range, an offshoot of the grand Central Mountain Range. Looking out from the windows of Errantry, the imposing mountain range stretches across your vision, as if embracing the community warmly into its arms.

Relax, and That’s Your Money Shot!

Originally I selected Errantry Lodge because, besides my friends’ strong recommendation, of the photos of comfortable and spacious guestrooms on Errantry’s website. Other than the comfy guestrooms, friends specifically mentioned Arthur’s portrait service. “Arthur has won many photography competition awards!” My friend emphasized. To be honest, for a person who always hid behind a camera and took group photos of friends, been “shot”  somehow made me nervous, as 1) I didn’t think I was photogenic; 2) my body was rigid and inflexible and could hardly come up with elegant poses, and both were the reasons why I hesitated. Hence, portrait service was never a priority on my list.

Exotic Experience at Local

When choosing a room at Errantry, it did trouble me a bit. Besides the cartoon room is a quad, which I do not consider, all the other rooms have appealing photos on the website. Since it is my first time, let’s begin from the aborigine room!

When I arrive at the front door of Errantry, I immediately see a spacious garden. Upon entering the lodge is the lounge, and the bar with a hand-drawn Greek sea view painting is stand conspicuously. On the left hand side of the 2nd floor is my aborigine room. I am pleasantly surprised when I open the door, because of the vast space, large bed, and an enormous LCD screen! This guest room is even larger than my own bedroom, about a dozen pings. To a city dweller where every inch of earth cost a fortune, to have a capacious room like this is simply extravagant.

A Biking Trip at Dawn

 

5 a.m., an hour at dawn that normal people would not be awake, is the most beautiful hour to ride a bicycle in Hualien.

When Arthur recommended a bike ride 5 a.m. in the morning, frankly, I was a little nervous, since I was never an early bird. After listening to a friend told me her unforgettable biking experience at Errantry, I decided to pose a challenge to my lazy bones. Let’s ride a bicycle at 5 a.m.!

When 5 a.m. arrived, I tried so hard to show up on time at the courtyard of Errantry. My first surprise was the verdant greens of the mountain peaks stood tall before me, with clouds and mists lingering at the half-way. I began to awake deeply within. To a city dweller, this is a very luxurious morning call.

With a passion to trace the footsteps of our forefathers, in light gear and 2400c.c. of water, Arthur and Theresa challenged the renowned Jhuilu Historical Trail with several hiking pals.

Errantry’s Secret Garden – Chinsan Biking Trail: 200m from Errantry

For a city folk with a forty year metropolitan background, to slow down my pace, liberate from work, with deep relaxation of mind and body, is probably the best mentality while traveling in Hualien. A year has gone past since my migration from Taipei to Hualien, I am still fascinated by the variety of ways to tour Hualien. I hope to share with you today one of the routes that I highly recommend.
